The Man and His Mountain

The Man and His Mountain (2011)

I've always respected my grandfather. As a child I remember going on trips to visit him, and being completely overwhelmed by the magic that ensued. You see, my grandfather doesn't reside in a sunny suburban neighborhood in Palm Springs, or a quaint, cozy retirement home down the street. Instead, he chose to live right on the top of a mountain. HIS mountain. As a child this act of obvious seclusion never struck my curiosity, but now, in a time of patriotic unrest in America, I wonder. Why? Why did my grandfather decide to casts himself out of a well-structured society? This documentary is my journey to find out what drives a man to take such a drastic action, and the unexpected results that followed.
